I was a guest there not too long ago and the appearance greatly helped my reputation as a marketer. The key to making this work to your advantage is to make sure you provide your listeners with some great tips on marketing and making money online. Your listeners will love you for it.
Another great way is to write a series of articles on a subject and establish yourself as an authority on the subject. I've been writing articles for several years now and let me tell you, it has helped a lot. I've got over 20,000 pages at Google all about me. By writing, you increase your Internet presence, which in turn improves your reputation. And it doesn't take as long as you might think to build a name for yourself.
Finally, there are forums. Forums are great for improving your reputation. The key is understanding how to use forums to your advantage. The best way to do that is to contribute. As a forum member, I always try to provide information for the other members that is going to help them with their marketing. Too many people work from a scarcity mindset. This is wrong. As much info as you freely give away, there is still plenty more to be sold. And the more you give, the more sales you'll make.
